The members of NSBE always seemed to be having fun, so I decided to check out a meeting and immediately felt a connection. I became a member and started getting involved with community outreach. Giving back to the community has always been a passion of mine. During my last 2 years of college, I had the opportunity to work with NSBE to plan special events. How did NSBE play a part in your career journey? NSBE actually helped me with my decision to join the military. Growing up, joining the military had always been a thought. Through NSBE, I met a couple people who were in the military and they encouraged me and helped me train to enlist. I found a community of close knit friends through NSBE, who played a significant part in helping me choose a path for after graduation. Why ITW and what do you do in your current role? I love the variety of opportunities that ITW offers and enjoy the challenging aspects of my role. I get to own my development and work with a great team to accomplish significant value for the business. In my current role, as a Project Engineer, I manage multiple engineering projects from conception to launch. Having a chemical background, I also resolve customer questions through the testing of the water that comes from our products (Dishwasher). This also includes machine validation testing and troubleshooting. Its great to work for an organization that allows me to use my technical skills, while at the same time develops my business acumen. How do ITW's value play a part in your life? Values are everywhere - integrity, respect, trust, simplicity and share risk. Having these values as part of my core decreases complacency and has enhanced my curiosity and learning agility. ITW's business model, especially 80/20, is also integrated in my life. Its applicable both at work and in my personal life and has led to efficiencies and my ability to produce fresh ideas.
