How did you learn about ITW?
University Career Fair
Tell us about your ITW journey thus far, in what role(s) and businesses have you worked in?
I have been working for ITW for 6 years in the automotive segment and in the same division the entire time. I started as a Continuous Improvement intern for our Mazon, IL facility. I also interned in our Hebron, IL location, also as a Continuous Improvement intern the following summer. Then I got hired full time as a Manufacturing Engineer. A year later, I was offered an opportunity to become the 80/20 Analyst for our division. After doing that for some years, I went into the commercial side of the business into sales, taking care of small accounts. Last year, I took a more challenging role and became a Sales & Engineering Manager responsible for some bigger accounts like FORD and Nissan.
What does a typical day in your current role look like?
Customer calls and follow ups, putting together quotes and proposals for our customers. Working with product designers to make sure we are offering our customers differentiated products.
For those who were ITW interns, how did your internship help you prepare for your full-time role?
Very much so. I came in to my full time role with an understanding of the 80/20 philosophy and had a head start on applying it to my tasks and projects.
